Does dual toning really work on melasma and dark spots?

This is the question we hear most from people coming in about melasma, dark spots, and pigment. Here is a summary of whether dual toning really works and how often it is done.

What dual toning is
It is a treatment that combines a toning laser, which breaks pigment apart, with a Genesis laser, which aids dermal regeneration. Toning destroys the pigment, then Genesis improves the dermal environment to address melasma and spots. A toning laser on its own can leave skin sensitive and thin — Genesis is what prevents that.
Three toning lasers are available: Q-switched Nd:YAG (dense pigment), pico toning (lentigo, epidermal freckles), and Clarity Pro (light pigment). The choice is made from skin analyzer imaging.
Schedule and aftercare
Five to ten sessions at one- to two-week intervals are recommended, and more may be needed depending on how deep the pigment sits. Redness right after treatment usually settles within a few days. Sun protection, moisturizing, and minimal friction are essential, and taking Aptamin C or using vitamin C home care alongside helps prevent pigment.
As the sun grows stronger, protect yourself well and let dual toning bring your tone back to clear.
