Why Winter Is the Best Time to Clear Dark Spots — A Dual Toning Story

If the melasma and spots gathering on your face are on your mind — did you know now is the best time to clear them?

Why winter
Spots such as melasma and freckles are sensitive to UV, so treating them intensively in winter, when UV is weaker, keeps recurrence and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) down. In midsummer, however well the treatment goes, the spots you worked so hard to erase come back the moment you step into direct sun.
A hammer and an awl — how the laser is chosen
Saeron has two devices: a Q-switched Nd:YAG and a pico laser. Where melanin is large and dense, the Q-switched works like a hammer breaking up clumps of pigment; where you want to erase a few fine freckles precisely, the pico works like an awl. The choice is made from analyzer imaging, and the two are sometimes alternated by layer.
If you are also thinking about toning's downside
Honestly, toning can leave skin sensitive, thin, and dry. That is why we recommend dual toning, which combines Genesis toning to aid dermal regeneration. It is gentle enough that people with marked redness or sensitivity sometimes have Genesis alone — so while a single session is not dramatic, frequent sessions can shorten the overall course.
You have worked hard this year. Do not let melasma and spots weigh on you — may you come through with brighter skin.
